On October 15, 2026, Google announced changes to AI Mode and AI Overviews. AI answers are getting more prominent source links, while a dedicated section for official websites is being tested for certain queries. Businesses can use this as a reason to check how easily visitors find the right page and continue their journey after arriving from Search.

What is changing in Search

Google is increasing links embedded directly in AI responses and showing them higher up more often. Readers can open a source alongside the statement that interests them. For tasks with only one or two official destinations, Google will test a dedicated section at the top of the response explaining why each link is useful.

The company is also expanding prominent news carousels across locations and languages and improving related-article links. These announcements describe different rollout and testing stages; they do not mean that every element is already available to everyone in every region.

What this means for SEO and GEO

GEO commonly refers to making a company’s information useful and understandable in generative search responses. Google Search Central says that established SEO fundamentals still apply: there is no special markup or separate admission ticket for AI Overviews or AI Mode. A page must be crawlable, indexed and eligible for a Search snippet. Meeting these conditions guarantees neither indexing nor inclusion in an AI answer.

What website owners can check now

  • Put the essentials of a service on a clear page: scope, terms, limitations, locations and contact options.
  • Check crawler access and internal links so useful material does not remain isolated.
  • Separate first-hand facts and real examples from assumptions; date updates and cite external figures.
  • Keep the company name and contacts consistent, resolve contradictions and check the mobile reading experience.
  • Review the journey after arrival: where can someone ask a question or leave an inquiry?

NEXSTA’s role starts after the click

A visitor may arrive with a specific question about suitability, required information or service terms. NEXSTA’s AI consultant answers using company materials, clarifies the request and, when configured accordingly, helps the visitor submit an inquiry. This requires an up-to-date knowledge base and testing with realistic visitor questions.

NEXSTA does not control Google’s results or promise inclusion in AI answers. It helps visitors understand information once they are on the website. Start by reviewing demonstration scenarios and preparing the documents needed for the knowledge base.
